Yoga Nidra is a form of guided meditation. Instead of focusing using great effort (which is commonly associated with meditation practice), Yoga Nidra's goal is complete relaxation. It is practiced in the pose called shavasana - (corpse position) lying comfortably on the back. While in position and practicing Yoga Nidra, students enjoy a unique type of body awareness, breath work, and visualization; illuminating the whole of their mind and working toward the experience of embracing a state of conscious liberation and self-realization known as Superconsciousness. Yoga Nidra's mindfulness techniques are documented as having and are known to: help with insomnia, increase an individuals awareness and control of the dream state, reduce stress, increase memory recall and learning capacity, relieve pain, ease pregnancy and childbirth, positively affect psychosomatic diseases, lower blood pressure, promote a general feeling of well being, and much much more. Additionally, it is safe for children and the elderly.
