Per Marianne Williamson, "We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous [handsome], talented and fabulous [awesome]? Actually, who are you not to be?" Most things I’ve learned about life happened while being active in the outdoors. I have hiked, biked, climbed or ran in 42 states in the USA and 12 foreign countries. Leading a full and healthy lifestyle is my daily goal, which includes providing nutrients and water (and of course, a Chai tea latte!) to and exercising the mental, emotional, and physical bodies in a balanced and productive way through rest, cardio, yoga asana, pranayama, and meditation.
My educational and professional path have also lead me towards a full and healthy lifestyle. I serve a dual role as the Director and Quality Assurance Officer for a state regulatory program within the NYS DOH, overseeing ~500 environmental labs. I am a certified yoga teacher, completing 100 plus hours of formal training in Anusara Yoga, 200 Hour teacher training in Hatha Yoga, 150 Hour advanced Vinyasa flow training, Level 1 and 2 Restorative Yoga training, Yin Yoga teacher training, and several workshops/in-depth classes taught by Dharma Mittra, Todd Norian, Deb Neubauer, etc.
There’s a biblical story where we can choose to build our house on sand or we can build it on rocks. When it is built on sand, winds and rains can wash it away. When our house is built on solid bedrock, such as the Vishnu Schist or Zoraster Granite which underlies the Grand Canyon, it is sturdy and strong and can resist years and years of weathering, storms and earthquakes. I have the support of wonderful family and friends and even obtained a B.S. in Geological Sciences, B.S. in Earth and Space Science Education, and M.S. in Geochemistry. Let's make our foundation even stronger! Come to a class at Yoga Mandali to explore and grow, and ultimately, ending with Ms. Williamson, "And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others."
